New Caledonia’s iconic cultural centre was designed by Renzo Piano.
Spread over eight hectares north of Nouméa, the Tjibaou cultural center immerses you in kanak culture through a site designed by Renzo Piano. Exhibitions change through the year, and the performance hall welcomes many artists from the territory and the region. The centre brings together several venues: an art centre, a museum, a performance space, a library and a shop. Its mission is to collect, promote and pass on kanak culture, putting contemporary creation in dialogue with customary heritage. Guided visits are scheduled, including the Kanak Path that winds through the vegetation and the outdoor artworks. Half a day is enough to soak in the place, more if a show or temporary exhibition is on. Plan your visit.
