If you are a quality theatre lover, you will be pleasantly surprised by the richness of the plays presented by the Théâtre de l'Ile.
On Nou island in Nouméa, the Théâtre de l'Île occupies a history-laden building, originally designed to house a church, then turned in 1886 into a sewing workshop, food store and warehouse until the penal administration left. Long left to ruin, it has been restored and inaugurated as a theatre in 2000, in a contemporary design that converses with the remnants of the past. The eclectic programming alternates colourful plays by local companies with renowned works from France, featuring well-known actors. The theatre stands as a lively venue that blends contemporary creation with the memory of the Caledonian penal colony. Plan your evening.
Guarded parking is available opposite the theater.
Ticketing is open for the entire programme as soon as the season opens. You can buy your tickets online via the Ticket NC platform or at the on-site box office during opening hours.
