Description

(Re)discover in downtown Noumea, this historical heritage and architectural witness of the early 20th century : the Maison Higginson.
In Nouméa, Maison Higginson is said to have been built by Gabriel Laroque on a plot bought back from John Higginson, founder of the Le Nickel company. Acquired by the Ville de Nouméa, it now hosts historical and heritage exhibitions, as well as art and contemporary creation shows. The visit shines a light on the colonial legacy of the late 19th century and on the evolution of visual arts in New Caledonia. The rooms and the programme alternate between a retrospective gaze and more current proposals, in a building anchored in the city's history. Plan your visit.
