Description

Every month until November, a company or an artist will connect with local residents through a free show, performed in a different location each night.
In May, Maïté Siwene kicks off this series of cultural events with her show "Wanamat’Show." DATES AND VENUES Tuesday, May 19 at 6:00 PM – Place Constantine, Vallée-du-Tir Wednesday, May 20 at 5:00 PM – Magenta Tours amphitheater Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM – Place de Kaméré 2000 Friday, May 22 at 6:00 PM – Les Roses School, Rivière-Salée THE WANAMAT’ SHOW Alone on stage—but definitely not in her head—old Pa Kutroine, a petite Kanak woman from Maré, shares the half-fantastical, half-realistic journeys of her many children, their quest for roots, and their absurd clashes with the modern world. Without warning, old Pa Kutroine sweeps us away to the crossroads of today's world and Kanak culture, where nickel mines and yam fields collide. She delivers a hearty dose of laughter paired with a profound look at the complex relationship between tradition and modernity.
