Commemoration of the Allied Victory on 8 May 1945 in the presence of the French Armed Forces, along with a delegation from the United States and Papua New Guinea
Come along to the commemoration of the Allied Victory on 8 May 1945, a moment of remembrance and shared reflection open to everyone.
The morning will begin at 10 am in front of La Foa Town Hall with a military parade heading to the racecourse. The parade will take place in the presence of the Commander of the Armed Forces in New Caledonia, along with delegations from the United States and Papua New Guinea, highlighting the international significance of this commemoration.
From 11 am, the La Foa racecourse will host a range of activities and demonstrations, including interactive workshops, a parachute jump, and displays of equipment from the Armed Forces, firefighters and the gendarmerie. Food stalls will also be available on site.
This event will be marked by the exceptional presence of American and Papua New Guinean troops as part of the international military exercise “Tagata Toa 2026”, adding an immersive and educational dimension to the day.
