A boat trip along the Diahot combining mangrove scenery, natural and historical heritage, with cruising all the way to the river mouth and Pam Bay in a preserved environment.
Departing from near the village of Ouégoa, this boat trip offers a different way to discover the Diahot, following the water through preserved landscapes, mangroves and local heritage. The quick boat launch makes it easy to set off on an immersive experience in one of Northern New Caledonia’s great natural areas.
Throughout the cruise, Ricky shares the history of the Diahot and Ouégoa, while also explaining the local fauna and flora found along the river. This approach gives the outing both a nature and discovery focus, ideal for travellers wanting a deeper understanding of the area.
The excursion continues to the river mouth and then on to Pam Bay, an area known for both its scenery and historical interest, including the remains of a former copper smelter. Combining river discovery, observation of the natural environment and insights into local heritage, this outing offers a rewarding immersion into the landscapes of New Caledonia’s far north.
