The Ouenghi Bridge, in Boulouparis, New Caledonia, is the only structure in Oceania recognized by the Association of Gustave Eiffel’s descendants.
Dating back to 1893, the Ouenghi Bridge is an engineering masterpiece from the workshops of Gustave Eiffel. This monument has a fascinating history: assembled in France, it was transported to New Caledonia and erected on site using a spectacular launching technique, which required penal labor from the era.
Today, it is a unique site for walks and heritage discovery, recently transformed. Since the end of 2023, it has taken on color thanks to the collective "Libres comme l'art" (Free as Art), offering a modern and brilliant spectacle that enhances its historical architecture.
