Now Depart from Nouméa – La Tontouta International Airport

Following the official announcement by the Government of New Caledonia, the archipelago’s domestic air services, operated by local carrier Air Calédonie, have relocated to Nouméa – La Tontouta International Airport. International travellers can now continue their journey to the islands directly upon arrival in New Caledonia, with services operating to both the Isle of Pines and Lifou.

Domestic flights operated by Air Calédonie now depart from Nouméa – La Tontouta International Airport, replacing the former domestic departure point at Magenta Airport in Nouméa.

Following the Isle of Pines on 30 March, Lifou is now served daily by Air Calédonie, with flights operating from La Tontouta International Airport since 3 June. Travellers can therefore reach two of the archipelago’s best-known island destinations directly upon arrival in New Caledonia, without transferring into downtown Nouméa, while maintaining a flight time of around 40 minutes.

Thanks to the partnership between Aircalin and Air Calédonie, international and domestic flights can now be combined within the same itinerary, with schedules adapted to facilitate connections.

An enhanced travel experience

Located around 40 minutes from Nouméa, La Tontouta International Airport has introduced a range of new facilities and services alongside the transfer of domestic operations, enhancing the overall airport experience for all travellers.

New passenger areas, complimentary Wi-Fi, expanded dining and retail options, and a dedicated shuttle service for domestic passengers all contribute to improving the overall travel experience.

Additional transport options

Air Oceania also operates services between Nouméa and Lifou from Magenta Aerodrome using smaller-capacity aircraft.

Meanwhile, the Betico 2 ferry continues to provide connections to the Loyalty Islands and the Isle of Pines, as well as inter-island services, from the Ferry Terminal in downtown Nouméa.
