New Caledonia : an up and coming golf destination !

New Caledonia Tourism welcomed 5 new Australian and New Zealand Tour Operators together with an Australian journalist from 23 to 27 September, to highlight the destination’s potential for the golfing market.   They will take advantage of the New Caledonian stage of the “PGA Australasia Tour” to see for themselves the quality of local golfing on offer - facilities and suppliers – and to  develop (or strengthen) business links.

Eductour Golf

Following on from the visit of several Japanese golf tour specialists in July, it’s now the turn of our English-speaking neighbours to focus on New Caledonia as a new destination for golf lovers.

In order to encourage the trend and to develop this future niche market, New Caledonia Tourism (NCTPS), together with Nautilus Tours and the New Caledonia Golf League, invited 3 Australian tour operators, Gimme Golf, Golfer Escapes and Golf Explorer, 2 New Zealand TOs, Charlie’s Golf Tours and Experience Golf NZ Ltd, together with the professional Golf Australia Magazine,  to visit the territory from 23 to 27 September.

Led by Nautilus Tours, the NCTPS guests will visit the Tina, Dumbéa and Ouenghi golf courses, as well as the Exclusiv Golf at Deva. Along the way, they will take the opportunity of seeing the hotels available in Nouméa and Bourail, in order to offer golf packages to their clients. However, the highlight of their visit will be having front row seats to the South Pacific Open (part of the PGA Australiasia Tournament).  A great way to appreciate the quality of the greens and the local professionals in order to better promote them to the overseas travel agencies.

Complementing notably the support already provided by NCTPS to the Amateur Golf World Cup held in May, this educational fits in perfectly with NCTPS’s objective of positioning the destination in the golf sector: a high-growth tourism niche market for the country.
