'Bienvenue à la ferme'

The “Bienvenue à la ferme” farm stays network, first set up by France’s Chambers of Agriculture in 1988, is also well established in New Caledonia. The network brings together rural farmers and producers delighted to welcome tourists for a farm stay or home-cooked meal.

The French national network has around 9,000 members (including local farmers’ markets). The New Caledonian network has around fifty members and has a well-earned reputation for offering visitors high quality hospitality and a wonderfully warm welcome.

You won’t find a better way of experiencing local bush life at first hand and meeting people from all walks of rural and agricultural life, sharing in their daily lives and learning about rural know-how and traditions.

There are a various options on offer: from buying farm-fresh produce to stays on site (B&B, guesthouse or campsite), from educational tours exploring farms and making friends with animals to sampling delicious local specialities (farm inns or home-cooking venues), from horseback trails to hunting trips... There’s something to suit every taste! How about a WWOOF hands-on experience on an organic farm?
