Art in galleries
New Caledonia is a land that inspires artists. Most of the galleries are found in Nouméa, but isn’t uncommon to find exhibits in hotels in Grande Terre. Exhibits usually last about two weeks and the styles are very eclectic.
Art at the theatre
Do you love the theatre? In New Caledonia, you won’t be disappointed either by the quality of the shows or by the choice. The theatre arts scene is extremely lively and passionate. Professional and amateur troops put on inspired or classic plays every month. The Théâtre de l’Île often hosts plays from France to delight the actors, who can then perform close to their audience.
Art in the street!
With fantastic music, song or dance festivals, New Caledonia boasts a year-long schedule of various activities, which are often held outdoors. In legendary places like Château Hagen, the Tjibaou cultural center puts on public cultural events you shouldn’t miss. The open-air cinema in the middle of the summer is also a must-see!
