► Following the detection of the first local Covid-19 positive cases on its territory, New Caledonia has been under strict lockdown since 7 September.
► International passenger flights have been suspended, except for the transport of medical workers.
► Hotel quarantine has been replaced by a 7 to 14 days home quarantine.

Can I go to New Caledonia for a holiday?

Unfortunately, if you are not a New Caledonian resident, you will have to wait a little longer to visit New Caledonia.
The Government of New Caledonia has decided to close the borders to limit COVID-19 transmission and to carry out its vaccination campaign smoothly and successfully.

We miss you

Our islands are not the same without you, it's true, but let's be positive, this break is necessary to welcome you in the best conditions in a few months, and with a smile on our faces, as always. We are taking advantage of this period to fine-tune our Covid safe protocols, improve our services and look after our natural environment... So don't worry, our paradise will be even more beautiful when you return.

Borders are closed until 31/12/2021, and entry by plane or by boat remains strictly controlled.

Since the Covid 19 community outbreak in New Caledonia and to protect its population, the government has decided of a confinement of its population and a push of the vaccination.

International passenger flights have been suspended, except for the transport of medical workers.

Please note, even if you can purchase a ticket on a scheduled flight now, there is no guarantee you can use it on the expected dates. Therefore, we strongly advise to wait for the official announcement of borders reopening before rebooking.

Mandatory vaccination for all adults

After having successfully maintained a "100% Covid-free" status for more than a year thanks borders closure and strict confinement of travellers, New Caledonia voted on the 3 September "the compulsory vaccination against Covid 19 for all adults in the territory". Currently, 62% of Caledonians are vaccinated with 2 doses of Pfizer and the vaccination campaign is accelerating following the introduction of the delta variant.

European standard health infrastructure

As a French overseas territory, New Caledonia benefits from a health system and medical infrastructure that meet the highest international standards. The public hospitals in Noumea and Koné are very recent and are among the most modern facilities in France. All the medical staff working in the archipelago (doctors, nurses, surgeons, etc.) have French or European diplomas, guaranteeing safe and efficient care.
